Unter den Hut geschaut: Road to Happiness

In the last article I’ve written this year (at least for eTCG.de), I’m trying to explain you how to become a happy Duelist. I did a rough estimation of the number of articles I’ve written this year and it turned out I must have written something like 216 articles. Alright, so much for self-adulation, now go and check out the article: Unter den Hut geschaut: Road to Happiness.

Unter den Hut geschaut: Rabbit Season

The past weekend, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series stopped in Brighton. Here’s a link to the coverage in case you’re interested.

After everything was said and done and the dust had settled, the whole community started to complain about the seemingly unbeatable Dino Rabbit decks that rocked the tournament. Are they really that broken and is it really a problem that a new deck claims the top spots? I’m trying to answer these questions in Unter den Hut geschaut: Rabbit Season.

Unter den Hut geschaut: 200! Inception and Reincarnations

Wow, I’ve really made it. Hard to believe that the first article of my weekly column “Unter den Hut geschaut” has been published more than 5 years ago. A lot has happened in the past years, but for most of the time, you could count on one thing: You’ll read an article as part of this column once a week.

To celebrate the anniversary, I’m looking back at my own inception into the game and try to draw a couple of conclusions of what’s always been true for this community, be it 2004 or 2011. It’s quite the ride if you ask me: Unter den Hut geschaut: 200! Inception and Reincarnations.

Unter den Hut geschaut: The best Banned List ever!

I didn’t really find the time to update my blog on Friday or the past weekend as I was constantly on the move and catching up with some friends. Anyway, I published a weekly column and it dealt with the current banned list. I went as far as claiming that it’s the best list ever and I’m sure you have something to say about that. Go and check out the article: Unter den Hut geschaut: The best Banned List ever!

Unter den Hut geschaut: The Status Quo 2011

Better late than never, but never late is better; on Friday, I published another weekly column. This time I was trying to sum up the current status quo of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG (in Germany). Have a read and catch up with what’s been going on the past year in Germany: Unter den Hut geschaut: The Status Quo 2011.

Lessons learned at Worlds

The past week, I didn’t find the time to write a column – the World of Warcraft TCG World Championship simply kept me too busy to put an article together. The event was amazing and even though I scrubbed out of the main event, I had a blast watching my friends make it all the way up to the final 8! I also didn’t do too bad on the second largest Darkmoon Faire of all times with more than 270 players. In the end, I got beaten in the semi finals by my good friend Duncan, which meant I would walk away with something like 900,- € in prizes!

As expected, I learned quite a lot at Worlds (as I made a couple of silly mistakes). I wrote a long tournament report that will go live on DailyMetagame at some point soon, however, the lessons I learned also apply to other card games. Therefore, I decided to sum them all up and turn that into my weekly column for eTCG.de, Unter den Hut geschaut: Lessons learned at Worlds.

WoW TCG Worlds – here I come!

FINALLY! THE SOUL … HAS COME BACK … TO WORLDS!!!

(if you really don’t get the reference, shame on you and watch this video)

For the first time ever, I’ll attend the World of Warcraft TCG World Championship as a player this year. On the one hand, I’m really excited and look forward to the event, on the other, I still haven’t played a single game to prepare for the big event come Friday. Fortunately, my teammates of the Bootcamp L.E. have found some time to playtest and from what I heard, they have a pretty good idea what’s playable and what isn’t. I’ll take yet another trip to Leipzig to learn everything there is to know about the format tomorrow and will then start my preparation.

If you’ve been following the blog, you already know that I’m quite busy these days. My company nexTab and the new project TCG Source are keeping me extremely busy and while it’s rewarding to see both taking off, it’s also depressing to not find any time for my favorite hobby.

Well, I guess in the worst case, we’ll just throw a big party in Rotterdam. Best case would be several Bootcamp L.E. members rocking the Top 16! Keep your fingers crossed for us and hopefully see you in Rotterdam!
