Suppe für den soul – commercial break

Unfortunately, my weekly column Suppe für den soul has to take a break – and I can’t even say for sure how long that break’s gonna be.

I’ve summed up all the reasons in the last article for now: Suppe für den soul – commercial break.

Berlin’s best hair cutter: Aiso Hair Design

Something I wanted to do for quite a while now is write a short review about Aiso Hair Design, the first hair cutter ever to turn me into a regular customer. So let’s give it a try:

I usually dislike hair cutters. You go there, have at least some sort of idea what you would like your hair to look like and you come out and curse whoever cut your hair. Sometimes it’s not that bad, but it’s happened extremely rarely that I’ve been truly satisfied with the job the respective hair cutter did.

The experience I had at Aiso Hair Design was the complete opposite. I wanted to go to the draft and had my hair cut “real quick” before I went there. Unfortunately, out of the 8 hair cutters that Google Maps listed, 2 were shut down completely, 2 seemed to have never existed in the first place, 3 were already closed and so there was only Aiso left. At the time, I was glad that I could get my hair cut somehow. Little did I know that this would turn out to be the best “hair cutting experience” I’ve ever had!

  • The service is amazing; you get a drink for free and Adris (the owner) really tries hard to make you feel comfortable. Sometimes you’ll even get a free head massage.
  • You receive some real advice and not just bullshittish bla bla and then the end result looks nothing like the stuff you’ve been promised!
  • The shop is open until 8 pm, something you’ll only find very rarely outside of shopping centres.
  • And last but not least, the prices are moderate. When you take into account what you’ll get for your money, you will realize you’ve just made one of the better deals in your life.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. There’s really no reason to complain, I’ve recommended the shop to 4 of my friends and they’re all regular customers now as well. So if you’re in Berlin and you need to have your hair cut, go take a look at Aiso Hair Design.

A little more information (more opinions, address, etc.) can be found on the qype.com entry.

Suppe für den soul – What now?

Upper Deck and Blizzard didn’t renew their license agreement. This means that from April on, Upper Deck is no longer allowed to publish the WoW TCG.

What happens next isn’t entirely clear at this point. In my weekly column, I tried to give as much background information of what happened and what might happen next: Suppe für den soul – What now?

New pages and content

I finally took the time to update the page again. Not only are the existing pages (save the CV pages) featuring the latest information now, there are also some new pages up and running.

You can now find a site notice as well as a sub-site about the comics I read. I’m thinking about adding some more information, but I can’t come up with a date at this point, so please bear with me for the time being.

As always, any feedback is appreciated! Let me know what you want to read about and I’ll think of adding it to the site.

soulwarrior.net now supports mobile devices

Thanks to the amazing WordPress plug-in WPtouch, my homepage now also features special support for mobile devices. In case you’re one of the many iPhone / Android / some other smart phone users out there (or you found some miraculous way to get your hands on an iPad early – in which case tell me how you did it!), your viewing experience of the page should be dramatically increased now!

WPtouch displays the page in a smart phone friendly format, reducing page load time while increasing usability at the same time. I didn’t really find the time to test the plug-in, but it appears to me that it works like a charm. In case you’re expecting some issues, please let me know.

Final Kartefakt issue #100 released

This week, the historical issue #100 of Germany’s oldest magazine about Trading Card Games has been released. Unfortunately, it will also be the last issue of it.

It seems the ever changing market for TCG magazines has hit a downward swing – also thanks to the growing importance of the internet where players can find information often faster and, more importantly, cheaper. Nevertheless, it has been quite a ride for the Kartefakt. The magazine was about to be discontinued before, but found a way to make it to the 100.

The final issue features an interesting article about the history of TCG’s on top of the regular features you should all be familiar with by now. Additionally, #16 of the Kartefakt Virtual has been released. I’m not entirely sure if it’s also the final issue, but you might find out rather quick once you take a look at it. You can find it together with some more information about the final issue of the Kartefakt on the homepage: Kartefakt.de.

I would like to thank the amazing team of the Kartefakt for the long lasting work relationship we had. I enjoyed providing the Yu-Gi-Oh! and World of Warcraft content for the magazine and wish the whole team all the best for the future!
